From here you can walk up the hillside to the site of the old Saxon settlement of Budbury, winding along footpaths past ancient buildings many once occupied by the weavers who brought Bradford its wealth. From these paths glimpse views towards the Westbury White Horse on the distant Salisbury Plain! (10-15 minutes each way) |

In the other direction, walk to the old packhorse bridge over the Kennet & Avon Canal (5 minutes) where you can watch barges negotiating the busy lock. This lock-side area is very much Bradford's second centre. (click on 'By Rail & Water') |
